Custom Training

Our customized approach to training in governmental advocacy offers interested organizations a cost-effective way to accelerate the training of key management and staff, board members, or your entire membership, at your site and on the timetable most convenient to you. And you can pool resources with other organizations to achieve economies of scale.

Training is available not only in the Sacramento area but throughout California. Fees are based on course content, classroom time, preparation of customized learning materials, and travel expenses if applicable.

A custom training curriculum is tailored to your specific learning objectives, budget, schedules and optimal class sizes — delivered in increments of anywhere from an hour to a full day, for as many sessions as you need.

Course content is generally drawn from our Lobbying 101 and 201 seminar curricula, with added content tailored to your organization’s needs. For example: An extended session on bill analysis. Lobbying strategy, either a generic approach or an interactive session focused on specific legislative, budget, or regulatory issues. How to prepare for a career in governmental advocacy.

Interactive workshops can also be an effective learning approach. For a custom seminar hosted by the City of Roseville, the participants identified specific issues of interest, split up into sub-groups to brainstorm lobbying strategies and tactics for those issues, and then re-assembled for a critique and further discussion.

Any organization engaged in lobbying or in hiring or managing lobbyists — e.g., public agencies, companies, trade unions, professional associations, other membership organizations in the private or nonprofit sectors, public interest groups, lobbying firms and support staff — will find our custom training particularly valuable.
